Tournament returns to Times Union Center in Albany, NY, March 2-6
ALBANY, NY; – All-session passes to the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, March 2-6 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY, will go on sale Saturday, October 8 at 10 a.m.
All-session passes grant pass holders access to every game of the tournament from the opening round through the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championships. The popular basketball tournament featuring Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Rider, Saint Peter’s, and Siena and will return to Times Union Center for the 18th time.
“The Times Union Center is thrilled to once again host the MAAC basketball tournament. We could not think of a better place to showcase this outstanding display of athleticism than here in downtown Albany,” said Bob Belber, general manager of the Times Union Center. “All-session pass holders will have access to all 20 games of the tournament, and can watch some of the best players and teams in the Northeast as they march through the postseason in search of an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.”
“We look forward to another fantastic season of MAAC basketball this fall and winter culminating with a memorable tournament at the Times Union Center,” said MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor. “This year’s event will be known as the ‘Tournament before the Tournament’ to reflect the excitement that is inherent in the crowning of our conference champion. The downtown Albany community has proven to be a tremendous host for our student-athletes and fans and we are excited to return for another five days of championship basketball.”

The tournament will be supported by a number of exciting fan activities, including the return of the MAAC-n-Cheese Fest. The tip-off event, which was inaugurated last year, will again invite fans to sample gourmet mac-n-cheese from numerous downtown Albany restaurants. Additional fan-friendly events include the MAAC College Fair; Bus Brigade; Bounce to the Arena; and a newly revitalized Band Jam pep rally to be staged in downtown Albany.
