Saturday’s blockbuster 14-race DraftKings Travers Day card, highlighted by Fierceness’ victory in the 155th running of the Grade 1, $1.25 million DraftKings Travers, generated record setting all-sources wagering handle of $63,023,405.
The 2024 figure represents a 13.4 percent increase over the prior DraftKings Travers Day record of $55,559,317, which was established in 2022.
Paid attendance on Saturday was 47,844 with on-track handle of $11,267,864.
The DraftKings Travers was the centerpiece of a card featuring four additional Grade 1 contests: the $750,000 Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer, a 1 1/2-mile turf route for 3-year-olds and up; the $500,000 Ballerina Handicap, a seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares; the $500,000 Forego at seven furlongs for older horses; and the $500,000 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial for sophomores sprinting seven furlongs.
The 2024 summer meet continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.
