Largest consumer home show in the area to feature special guest appearances, exciting activities and over 350 booths
ALBANY, N.Y. – Hundreds of builders, remodelers, decorators and home experts will set the blueprint for the 2015 home improvement season at the Capital Region’s largest and longest running consumer home show: the 35th annual Times Union Home Expo, presented by Trustco Bank, on February 6-8 at the Times Union Center and Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.
The 2015 Times Union Home Expo will encompass two buildings and feature hundreds of exhibitors during its annual three-day run. The Expo will be held on Friday, February 6 from 3 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, February 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, February 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Seminar with DIY Network Star Jason Cameron presented by Paul Perry Kitchens
One of the many exciting events at the Times Union Home Expo will be the appearance of licensed home improvement contractor and star of DIY Network’s Man Caves and Desperate Landscapes Jason Cameron. Presented by Paul Perry Kitchens, Cameron will lead two seminars on Sunday, February 8 at 11 a.m. at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center and the second at 1:45 p.m. at the Times Union Center. Each seminar will include a 45 minute presentation with questions from the audience followed by a meet and greet with Cameron.
Times Union Home Expo guests will also have the opportunity to win a 30 minute one-on-one design consultation with Cameron by visiting the Paul Perry Kitchens displays at the Times Union Center and Empire State Plaza. The winner will be selected by random drawing of all entries on Sunday, February 8. Winner must be present at time of drawing. The consultation will take place on Sunday, February 8. No purchase necessary.
Battle of the Chefs presented by John D. Marcella & Son Appliances and Hannaford Supermarkets
The Times Union Home Expo will feature the Battle of the Chefs, presented by John D. Marcella & Son Appliances and Hannaford Supermarkets on Saturday, February 7 at the Times Union Center. The first session will begin at 11 a.m. with a second session at 1 p.m.
The mystery basket cook-off will feature six popular local chefs competing for the title of the Capital Region’s top chef. Three chefs will be featured in each session, during which they will utilize food items and ingredients provided by Hannaford Supermarkets.
Participating chefs include Scott Carlton of E.K.’s Cibo; Michael Pallozzi of Carney’s Tavern; Patrick Pittman of Bellini’s Italian Eatery of Loudonville; John Poole of Chartwells; Michelle Rivera of Fork It Over: Pop Up Meals for Charity; and Stephen Salerno of Justine’s of Cobleskill.
The participating chefs were selected by popular vote on the Times Union Home Expo Facebook page, where fans and followers were invited to submit a comment nominating their favorite Capital Region chef.
Pet Connection Adoption Clinic presented by Hannaford Supermarkets
Sunday will feature the return of the popular Pet Connection Adoption Clinic, presented by Hannaford Supermarkets, at the Times Union Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pet Connection, one of the Capital Region’s most popular newscast segments hosted by News10 Chief Meteorologist Steve Caporizzo, will feature a number of adoptable dogs and cats from local humane societies.
Hannaford will provide a $25 gift certificate toward the purchase of pet supplies for anyone who adopts a pet at the expo.
“Tanks to Tanks” Outreach Program
Eddie’s Aquarium and The Cabinet Shop will launch the “Tanks to Tanks” veteran outreach program during the three-day expo. Administered through the Capital District Marine Aquarists Society, the program is designed to provide aquariums, fish and accessories to Capital Region veterans as a form of therapy. The tanks also serve as a means for families to reconnect through a shared hobby when a relative returns from deployment.
Guests at the Times Union Home Expo are invited to make donations to support the “Tanks to Tanks” as it prepares to provide its first 50 aquariums to veterans this spring.
Admission and Parking
The Times Union Home Expo, presented by Trustco Bank, will feature a special Friday admission of $5, available both online and at the door.
Saturday and Sunday tickets are available online for $8 at www.timesunionhomeexpo.com, a 20% savings off admission at the door ($10 on Saturday and Sunday).
A weekend expo pass, which provides admission for one guest on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, is available exclusively online for $14 at www.timesunionhomeexpo.com.
Children under 14 are free when accompanied by a paid adult.
Parking is free at both the Empire State Plaza and the Times Union Center, courtesy of The Cabinet Shop. Free parking locations at the Empire State Plaza will be located at the P2 North lot and the

CDTA will provide a complementary shuttle service between the Times Union Center and Empire State Plaza on Saturday, February 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, February 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The CDTA shuttle will run every 20 minutes.
