Dunkin’ Donuts pledges one pound of coffee for every goal scored at home by the Crunch, Comets and Silver Knights, and every point scored at home by Syracuse University football
Dunkin’ Donuts also donates 300 pounds of coffee to Food Bank in partnership with the Syracuse Chiefs from recently concluded season
SYRACUSE, New York, – Dunkin’ Donuts today announced it will donate one pound of coffee to Food Bank of Central New York for every goal scored at home this season by the Syracuse Crunch, Syracuse Silver Knights, Utica Comets, and for every point scored at home by the Syracuse University football team. The community relations initiatives are elements of season-long partnerships between Dunkin’ Donuts and the Central New York teams in 2013-‘14.
The teams combined to score 605 goals and points at home last season, including the predecessor to the newly relocated Utica Comets. An equal scoring output this season would generate 605 pounds, or the equivalent of 20,000 cups of coffee, for Central New York residents in need this fall and winter.
“We are honored to partner with these Central New York teams to support an organization as vital as Food Bank of Central New York,” said Eric Stensland, field marketing manager for Dunkin’ Donuts. “The purpose of the partnerships is to capture the excitement of every score and turn it into a tangible benefit for the food bank.”
“Many of us look forward to a cup of coffee each morning and see it as an essential part of starting our day,” said Kathleen Stress, executive director of Food Bank of Central New York. “We are extremely grateful that Dunkin’ Donuts and these Central New York teams are partnering to help us provide coffee for thousands of residents in need throughout our area.”
In addition to announcing the partnership, Dunkin’ Donuts also donated a total of 300 pounds of coffee to Food Bank of Central New York as a result of a “Runs for Coffee” initiative between Dunkin’ Donuts and the Syracuse Chiefs during the 2013 season.
Food Bank of Central New York is a nonprofit organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education and advocacy in cooperation with the community. The food bank provides more than 23,000 meals per day through 476 member programs in 11 counties in Central and Northern New York.
