Dunkin’ presents Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York with $5,000 grant from the Joy in Childhood Foundation® to support local child hunger relief efforts
LATHAM, NEW YORK; – The Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins, kicked off a “Week of Joy” in the Capital Region by having local Dunkin’ franchisees and crew members volunteer at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
During the event, Dunkin’ volunteers supported the Joy in Childhood Foundation’s mission to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger by packing numerous nutritious items into boxes in the Salvage Sorting Room at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
Dunkin’ volunteers also presented a $5,000 grant to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to support child hunger relief efforts in the Capital Region. The grant to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York is part of the Joy in Childhood Foundation awarding a total of $2 million in funding to 150 organizations nationwide as part of an effort to bring the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger in the Capital Region.
“We are thankful for all the support Dunkin and the Joy in Childhood Foundation give the Regional Food Bank,” said Mark Quandt, Executive Director of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. “They provide us with volunteers and grants to help us feed more children across the region. Because of their generous gifts, chronically hungry kids are fed and can focus on being kids rather than worrying about where their next meal will come from. We are extremely grateful to host the volunteers at Dunkin’ and to recieve the generous donation from the Joy in Childhood Foundation.”
Across the country, Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins franchisees and crew members will volunteer their time at more than 80 Feeding America member food banks during the “Week of Joy,” which takes place March 18-22. There are 100 Week of Joy events planned around the country.
“The Joy in Childhood Foundation is proud to support local food banks, such as the Food Bank of Northeastern New York, that share our commitment to bringing joy to kids and helping them live healthier lives,” said Karen Raskopf, Co-Chair of the Joy in Childhood Foundation.
To date, the Joy in Childhood Foundation has awarded $72,500 to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to help address child hunger issues in the Capital Region. In the food bank’s 23 county service area, there are approximately 110,000 children who face hunger.
