Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s next generation store at 3267 Sunrise Highway in Wantagh earlier this month as part of its grand reopening ceremony.
The newly remodeled restaurant – owned by Dunkin’ franchisee Uri Back of Dunkin’s franchise network FKB Donuts, Inc. – commemorated the occasion with a $3,000 donation to Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island in conjunction with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island, a program of the Sunrise Association and the Friedberg JCC, brings the simple pleasures of childhood back to children struggling with cancer, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, laughter and happiness.
“At Sunrise, our supporters are the heart of our mission,” said National Director of SunriseWALKS/Peer-to-Peer at Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island Suzanne Beck. “Their unwavering generosity and compassion enable us to create a world where children with cancer and their siblings can rediscover joy, laughter and the simple pleasures of childhood. Together, we create unforgettable memories and provide much-needed smiles, all free of charge. We couldn’t do it without the help of generous supporters such as Uri Back and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation.”
The celebration also included members of the Nassau County Police Department’s 7th Precinct and the Wantagh Fire Department, who joined Dunkin’ representatives for a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The morning featured the first 100 guests in line at 9 a.m. receiving a coupon book containing four free medium hot or iced coffee coupons per month for 14 months as part of Dunkin’s Free Coffee for a Year giveaway, while many other Dunkin’ Rewards members spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise.
The 2,200 square-foot Dunkin’ employs 12 crew members and is now open daily from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.
