Dunkin’ restaurant in Monroe commemorates grand opening with donation to Connecticut Foodshare

Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s newly built next generation restaurant at 395 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe on Wednesday, August 7 as part of its grand opening.

Dunkin’ franchisee Emanuel “Manny” Pinheiro commemorated the occasion with a $3,000 donation to Connecticut Foodshare in conjunction with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. Connecticut Foodshare supports individuals and families across the state of Connecticut by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs in an effort to alleviate hunger.

“Connecticut Foodshare is very appreciative of this gift from Emanuel Pinheiro and the Dunkin’ Joy in Child Foundation,” said Connecticut Foodshare Chief Giving Officer Beverly Catchpole. “This donation will allow us to provide resources for our expansive network of partners and help to feed those in need across Connecticut.”

The celebration also included Monroe First Selectman Terry Rooney; Monroe Economic & Community Development Director Bill Holsworth; Monroe Chamber of Commerce Director Lee Hossler and Monroe Volunteer Fire Chief Kevin Catalano, who took part in a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The morning featured the first 100 guests in line at 9 a.m. receiving a coupon book containing four free medium hot or iced coffee coupons per month for 14 months as part of Dunkin’s Free Coffee for a Year giveaway, while many other Dunkin’ Rewards members spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise.

The 1,970-square-foot Dunkin’ employs 25 crew members and is open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
