STUYVESANT PLAZA TO WELCOME THE BALLOONARY AS A LOCAL HOLIDAY POP-UP SHOP

Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier open-air shopping and dining destination, today announced the upcoming arrival of The Balloonary. The local women-owned business featuring gifts, party supplies, balloon décor and more is set to arrive at the Plaza as a holiday pop-up store and will be located between Lola Saratoga and Warby Parker through Dec. 31.

The Balloonary is co-owned by Nina Young and Stephanie Turcotte, whose flagship store debuted in Albany in 2022. The Stuyvesant Plaza pop-up shop, the duo’s second location, will feature an assortment of stationary, holiday gear, hosting gifts such as unique glassware and fun pantry items, celebration essentials and a gift-wrapping area.

“We look forward to welcoming a locally and woman-owned business, The Balloonary, to Stuyvesant Plaza this fall through the holiday season,” said Stuyvesant Plaza General Manager Rachel Ferluge. “Nina and Stephanie have created a unique brand focused on balloon décor for celebrations and gifts of all shapes and sizes. Their concept store will be incredibly well received by Plaza shoppers in search of the perfect gifts for family and friends.”

Prior to debuting their first shop at 449 Madison Ave. in Albany two years ago, Young operated a photobooth out of a vintage 1963 Airstream Overlander. The idea for a balloon décor business came about after a bride requested a backdrop of inflated balloons for her wedding. Young designed her first ever balloon installation for the occasion and posted her work on social media to a receptive audience.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the holiday season at Stuyvesant Plaza,” Young said. “To be counted among the Plaza’s unique mix of eateries and retailers during the busiest shopping season of the year is such an exciting prospect. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”
