Cardona’s Market – the family-owned specialty foods market and catering company serving the Capital Region since 1945 – is excited to partner with a Capital Region purveyor of all-natural, aromatic food toppings to debut a tasty cod sandwich available exclusively during the 2025 Lent season.
Customers can now savor the “Hot Crispy Cardona” until April 17 at any of Cardona’s three Capital Region locations.
The delectable sandwich features a fresh fried cod filet paired with fennel slaw, field greens, and topped with Hot Crispy Oil mayo on a toasted brioche bun.
“We are excited to partner with Hot Crispy Oil, a specialty condiments creator based in the Capital Region,” said Cardona’s Market Co-Owner and Executive Chef Robert Cardona, Jr. “Our culinary team has assembled the perfect combination of ingredients to feature Hot Crispy Oil as an integral part of this savory sandwich to be enjoyed during Lent.”
Founded in 2020, Hot Crispy Oil has grown from a local distributer to a nationally available brand in less than five years. Its signature chili oil and sauce products are hand-made in small batches from the best ingredients on the market.
“While Hot Crispy Oil has expanded our footprint nationally over the last four years, we hold a very fond appreciation for local establishments like Cardona’s that helped get us off the ground,” said Hot Crispy Oil Founder and CEO John Trimble. “This will be an exciting and delicious sandwich collaboration.”
The unveiling of the limited-time offering will coincide with another special creation for National Meatball Day on Sunday, March 9. For one day only, meatball lovers can enjoy the Cardona’s “Meatball Italiano.” This unique spin on the conventional “Meatball Parm” features a trio of Cardona’s traditional meatballs topped with tasty homemade sauces representing the three colors of the Italian flag: pesto, alfredo and marinara, served on a toasted club roll.
Cardona’s Market is located at 340 Delaware Avenue in Albany; 9 Cobbee Road in Latham; and 222 Washington Street in Saratoga Springs.
