Coat Drive will benefit Salvation Army of Glens Falls and Moreau Community Center, plus Barstool Sports personalities will be in attendance
GLENS FALLS, NY – The Adirondack Thunder will hit the ice on Friday, Jan. 7, for their first home game of the new year when they face off against the Maine Mariners at 7 p.m. at Cool Insuring Arena.
Friday’s match-up will feature a coat drive in partnership with Fidelis Care to benefit the Salvation Army of Glens Falls and Moreau Community Center. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a new or gently used coat for donation. Participation in the coat drive will earn fans a voucher for a free ticket to the Thunder’s home game against the Reading Royals on Friday, Jan. 28.
“As the days get colder, more and more of our neighbors are in need of essential items and support for them and their families,” said Pam Hassen, Fidelis Care Chief Member Engagement Officer. “This coat drive is a great opportunity for Thunder fans to help their community members in need and keep them safe this holiday season. Fidelis Care truly appreciates the support of the Adirondack Thunder and their dedicated fans.”
“The Thunder organization is proud to support the Glens Falls community, and Friday’s game is a great opportunity for us to team up with our fans and start the year on a charitable note,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “I believe this coat drive will be a huge success for the Salvation Army and Moreau Community Center.”
In addition to the coat drive, famed sports and pop culture personalities from Barstool Sports will be on hand at the game. Fans can meet Frank the Tank, a blogger and vlogger for the website, and Coach Duggs, who co-hosts the popular podcast “Pardon My Take.”
Hockey fans can also enjoy Friday Happy Hour with $2 specials on 12-ounce Labatt Blue beer during the first period of the game.
“We’re very eager to get back on the ice for our first game of 2022. More than 4,000 fans came out on New Year’s Eve to watch as we defeated Newfoundland, and we’re so appreciative of their unwavering support during these ever-changing times,” added Mead. “We are very much looking forward to hosting our fans as we kick off 2022 on home ice at the Cool Insuring Arena.”
