The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets, will “Stick it to Cancer” this Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 at Cool Insuring Arena.
The North Division-leading Thunder will face the Reading Royals in special jerseys which will be auctioned live after Saturday’s game to benefit the CR Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital. Doors open at 6 p.m. both nights with face-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
“Stick it to Cancer has become one of the most recognized and anticipated events on our hockey calendar as we come together as a community in honor of those who have faced this insidious disease,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “We are extremely proud of this initiative which forges a bond between our players and our fans who we know we can count on for outstanding support.”
In what has become a time-honored tradition during Stick it to Cancer weekend, fans can paint the ice after Friday’s game to share inspirational messages or honor loved ones with a $10 donation to the CR Woods Cancer Center. Paint the Ice is presented by the New York State Dental Foundation, which will also hold free oral cancer screenings in the main lobby on Friday evening.
Saturday evening’s game will be contested on the painted ice.
