Alpin Haus, one of the Northeast’s largest outdoor recreation retailers with six stores in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey today announced its acquisition of High Adventure Ski Shop, a popular local ski equipment and apparel business in Latham owned by Diana and Darrell Karl.
Located at 1054 Troy-Schenectady Road, High Adventure has thrived for 31 years under the Karls’ leadership. The husband-and-wife team and their staff plan to remain on site to continue to serve their loyal base of customers.
“For the past three decades, we have had the honor to serve the Latham and surrounding communities with your ski shop needs,” said High Adventure principal owners Diana and Darrell Karl. “As we began to look towards our future and retirement plans, we are happy to share that High Adventure will now be part of the Alpin Haus family. The Heck family shares the same values and commitment to their employees and customers that we do and we are looking forward to joining their team.”

The addition of the centrally located High Adventure complements Alpin Haus’ two other Capital Region area ski and winter sports shops in Clifton Park and Amsterdam.
Currently celebrating its 60th anniversary, Alpin Haus last year unveiled a large-scale addition to its original 1964 flagship store in Amsterdam, expanding its ski and pool departments by as much as 60 percent. Alpin Haus Ski & Pools Shop at Clifton Park Center will soon celebrate its 15th year in business serving winter and recreational enthusiasts in southern Saratoga County.
