Second toy collection to be held on Saturday, November 14
Each vehicle donating a new, unwrapped toy will receive a complimentary $10 Dunkin’ card and 10-pack of munchkins
Albany, NY – Dunkin’ and Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today announced that more than 5,200 toys were collected during the first installment of a two-part drive-thru collection event to benefit Capital Region Toys for Tots on Saturday, November 7.
Capital Region residents will have another opportunity to donate new, unwrapped toys to children in need from the safety of their vehicles during a second drive-thru collection event hosted by Dunkin’ and Albany County on Saturday, November 14. The collection will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Albany County Hockey Facility at 830 Albany Shaker Road in Albany.
Based on the tremendous level of need in the community this holiday season, Dunkin’ will double its incentive for donations during the second collection. Each vehicle that donates a new, unwrapped toy on November 14 will receive a complimentary $10 Dunkin’ card and 10-pack of holiday munchkins.
“We are thrilled with the turnout at this past Saturday’s toy drive and would like to thank our longtime partner Dunkin’ and Albany County Executive McCoy for their support and continued dedication to Toys for Tots,” said Marine Gunnery Sgt. (Ret.) Albert Roman, local coordinator of the Capital Region Toys for Tots campaign. “We would also like to thank those in the community who donated toys last weekend. As we head into this most unusual holiday season, we encourage others to join us this coming Saturday while we continue to collect toys for children in need.”
“We had terrific weather and a strong turnout last Saturday for the Toys for Tots drive-thru toy collection at the Albany County Hockey Facility,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “This year is tougher than ever and so many families have experienced financial challenges due to the pandemic. That’s why Albany County and Dunkin’ are helping this campaign make the holidays bright for as many children as possible. Dunkin’s generous additional incentive of a $10 Dunkin’ card and munchkins should help take us over the top to help the nearly 200,000 local children served by Capital Region Toys for Tots. I encourage you to stop by our hockey facility this Saturday to donate a new, unwrapped toy to support our community.”
“Dunkin’ would like to thank all of those who made our first drive-thru toy collection such a success,” said Eric Stensland, field marketing manager for Dunkin’. “While we’re thrilled with the results, we want to make sure the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve have enough toys to serve all local children in need this holiday season. This is why we’re doubling down on our incentive and will now offer a $10 Dunkin’ card and 10-pack of munchkins to each car that donates a new, unwrapped toy during our final collection drive this coming Saturday.”
In addition to its support of the drive-thru toy collections, Capital Region Dunkin’ franchisees recently donated $30,000 to the Toys for Tots program to help purchase new toys for children in need. The donation brings Dunkin’s total support of the Toys for Tots campaign to $350,000 over the past 12 years.
The drive-thru toy collections will continue to help ring in the season of giving with festive holiday music from local radio station B-95.5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Capital Region Toys for Tots serves 14 counties across upstate New York, including: Albany, Broome, Clinton, Essex, Fulton, Franklin, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Washington and Warren. The holiday campaign operates annually from October 1 through December 23.
Capital Region Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps Reserve will work with 200 community agencies across the state to serve more than 200,000 children this holiday season.
