Dunkin’ restaurant in Oceanside commemorates grand reopening with donation to Long Island-based nonprofit fighting food

Members of the local community and Dunkin’ fans alike poured into Dunkin’s next generation restaurant at 2885 Long Beach Rd. in Oceanside on Friday, May 17 as part of its grand reopening ceremony.

The newly remodeled restaurant – owned by Dunkin’ franchisee Rizwan (Rocky) Sheikh of Dunkin’s franchise network FRJ Oceanside Donuts – commemorated the occasion with a $3,000 donation to Long Island Cares, Inc. in conjunction with the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation. Long Island Cares is a nonprofit utilizing multiple avenues of donations and education to fight food insecurity on Long Island. Long Island Cares supports more than 374 community-based agencies through food donations to area food pantries, soup kitchens, child care programs and more.

“Long Island Cares is very appreciative of the support and generosity of Rocky Sheikh and the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation,” said Long Island Cares Corporate Philanthropy Manager Kaylin Peterson. “Their gift provided 1,830 meals to Long Islanders battling food insecurity.”

The celebration also included members of the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Precinct and Town of Hempstead District 4 Assemblywoman Laura A. Ryder, who joined Dunkin’ representatives for a commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The morning featured the first 100 guests in line at 9 a.m. receiving a coupon book containing four free medium hot or iced coffee coupons per month for 14 months as part of Dunkin’s Free Coffee for a Year giveaway, while many other Dunkin’ Rewards members spun the Dunkin’ prize wheel for free Dunkin’ merchandise.

The 1,500 square-foot Dunkin’ employs 15 crew members and is now open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Oceanside Dunkin’ features the brand’s new restaurant design with a modern atmosphere, innovative technologies and exciting elements, including:

  • Modern Design: The openness, colors and materials used in the design help to create an approachable, positive and energetic environment.
  • Premium Pours: Dunkin’s signature cold beverages are now available through an innovative tap system serving eight consistently cold beverages such as coffees, iced teas, cold brew coffee and nitro infused cold brew coffee. Crew members will also use top-quality flavor-maximizing espresso machines to make hand-crafted drinks to order.
  • Dunkin’ on Demand: With fully-integrated digital kiosks coming in the near future, guests will be able to choose to order with or without the help of a crew member. Dunkin’ has also introduced an area dedicated to mobile pickups, so that members of the Dunkin’ Rewards program who order ahead via Dunkin’s Mobile App can get in and out of the restaurant faster than ever before.
  • Increased Energy Efficiency: The new Dunkin’ is a DD Green Achievement™ restaurant, which is designed to save 25% more energy compared to a standard Dunkin’ restaurant.
