Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to the game on August 7 will receive a free game ticket voucher
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Hannaford Supermarkets and the Vermont Lake Monsters will team up to support hunger relief efforts during “Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger Night” at the home game against State College on Sunday, August 7.
Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to the game will receive one ticket voucher redeemable for another Lake Monsters home game during the 2016 season. All items will be donated to the Vermont Foodbank.
“Hannaford is committed to fighting hunger within the communities we serve and we are honored to partner with the Lake Monsters on this initiative,” said Hannaford Supermarkets Community Relations Specialist Brian Fabre. “We encourage baseball fans to join us for a night of action on the field while supporting the Vermont Foodbank.”
“We are thrilled to be able to partner with Hannaford Supermarkets again on such a great initiative,” said Vermont Lake Monsters Merchandise and Accounting Manager Kate Echo. “Giving back to the community has always been a top pillar of success for the Lake Monsters brand, and working with the Vermont Foodbank, Hannaford and our fans has been nothing but a positive experience for our organization.”
Vermont Foodbank is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization, serving Vermont through a network of food shelves, meal sites, shelters, senior centers and youth programs. In 2015, the Vermont Foodbank distributed 10 million pounds of food to 153,100 Vermonters. The Vermont Foodbank, a member of Feeding America, is nationally recognized as one of the most effective and efficient nonprofits and food banks in the nation.
“For more than two decades, Hannaford has been a loyal partner in the work of ensuring our neighbors have enough food to eat,” said Vermont Foodbank CEO John Sayles. “In Vermont, 1 in 4 people in our community will visit a food shelf or meal site this year. With Hannaford’s support, we will provide 18 million nutritious meals to Vermonters struggling with hunger.”
The Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger campaign is an extension of the work that local Hannaford stores and distribution centers engage in daily. Hannaford donated more than 20 million pounds of rescued food to Northeast hunger relief in 2015.
