Tournament returns to Times Union Center in Albany, NY, March 3-7
ALBANY, NY – All-session passes to the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship, March 3-7 at Times Union Center in Albany, NY, will go on sale Saturday, October 10 at 10 a.m.
All-session passes grant pass holders access to every game of the tournament from the opening round through the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championship. The popular basketball tournament featuring Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth, Niagara, Quinnipiac, Rider, Siena and St. Peter’s will return to Times Union Center for the 17th time.
“Times Union Center is thrilled to once again host the MAAC basketball tournament in Downtown Albany,” said Bob Belber, general manager of Times Union Center. “All-session pass holders will have access to all 20 games of the tournament, and can watch some of the best players and teams in the Northeast as they march through the postseason in search of an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.”
“We look forward to another fantastic season of MAAC basketball this fall and winter culminating with a memorable championship tournament at the Times Union Center,” said MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor. “We’ve restructured the schedule of this year’s MAAC basketball tournament that we believe will be well received by both our student-athletes and our fans.”
Men’s and Women’s quarterfinal games will be played over two days at the MAAC Basketball Championship, with Women’s games at noon and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5; and Men’s games at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5.
Previously, each of the four games that comprised the quarterfinal rounds for the men’s and women’s bracket took place in a single day.
