na Men’s Basketball Head Coach and National Champion Gerry McNamara to meet fans at Saratoga Race Course

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced that new Siena Men’s Basketball Head Coach Gerry McNamara will take part in a meet-and-greet with fans at Saratoga Race Course on Friday, August 30.

Prior to the start of his first season as head coach of the Saints, Coach McNamara will visit Saratoga Race Course on Friday between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. for photo and autograph opportunities in the backyard across from the Miller Time Fourstardave Sports Bar. Fans can also receive a complimentary sample of mac-n-cheese in addition to meeting the 2003 National Champion who is affectionately known as “GMac”.

Hired by Siena College on March 29, McNamara takes over the head coaching duties for the Saints following a 15-year tenure as an assistant and later associate head coach with his alma mater, Syracuse University. The former All-BIG EAST selection led the Orange to the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship as a freshman during his playing days, which included East Regional Semifinal and Final matchups in Albany.

McNamara’s appearance kicks off Labor Day weekend festivities at Saratoga Race Course which will include the season’s final premium giveaway, a Saratoga windbreaker, presented by NYRA Bets, free with paid admission while supplies last, on Sunday, Sept. 1.

First scheduled post time is 12:35 p.m. on Friday, August 30.

The remainder of the weekend will feature a 12:05 p.m. first post time on Saturday, August 31 with gates opening at 10:30 a.m. Scheduled first post times are 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2.
