56th annual winter sports show will be held, November 3-5, at the Albany Capital Center with free parking
Ultimate Freestyle Show featuring athletes performing indoor acrobatic tricks will be one of many new additions to the annual event
ALBANY, NY; – Winter sports enthusiasts will be invited to toast the return of the forthcoming winter season with an expanded craft beer garden featuring more than a dozen local and regional breweries at the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase, Friday, November 3 through Sunday, November 5, at the all-new Albany Capital Center, 55 Eagle Street, in downtown Albany, NY.
The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase, presented by Alpin Haus, will feature the latest in gear, equipment and fashion in an all-new location for one of the nation’s longest running winter sports exhibitions. In addition to the new state-of-the-art location, free parking will be available for guests at the nearby Times Union Center garage, 100 Beaver Street, which is connected to the Albany Capital Center by way of an enclosed walkway.
The 2017 edition of the Showcase will also include free lift tickets to New York mountains on both Saturday and Sunday, courtesy of I Ski NY, and two-for-one lift tickets to Vermont resorts on Friday. In addition to the expanded craft beer garden, the show will include expanded hours on Saturday, an all-new three-day value pass and a dynamic new attraction: Ultimate Freestyle Show featuring an acrobatic ski and snowboard demonstration by semi-pro athletes.
Advance online tickets are available for purchase for $10 at www.northeastskishow.com. A three-day value pass, valid for admission each day of the Showcase, is available for purchase online for $25. Single-day tickets are available at the door for $12 (cash only).
Expanded Craft Beer Garden and Wineries, Live Music all three days
The 2017 edition of the popular craft beer garden will offer tastings from double the number of regional breweries as last year during the three-day show, including Adirondack Brewery; Brewery Ommegang; Brown’s Brewing Co.; Druthers Brewing Co.; Genesee Brewery; Harpoon Brewery; Ithaca Brewery; Long Trail Brewing Co.; Otter Creek Brewery; Magic Hat Brewery; Moosehead Breweries; Saranac Brewery and Switchback Brewery.
Guests will also enjoy wine selections from Saratoga Winery and Heron Hill, as well as live musical performances from ski industry favorites Annie in the Water Looping-Acoustic-Set on Friday; local acoustic guitarist James Rissacher on Saturday; and Soul Session lead singer Garland Nelson on Sunday.
The craft beer garden will be open 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Live music will coincide with the operating hours of the craft beer garden. Sampling tickets are available for purchase separately with paid admission to the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase. Must be at least 21 years old to participate in craft beer tasting; valid ID required upon entry to the beer garden.
Free lift tickets to New York and Vermont mountains
The 56th annual Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase will continue its tradition of lift ticket promotions all three days of the event, including the return of free lift tickets to New York mountains on both Saturday and Sunday, courtesy of I Ski NY.
The first 500 guests with paid admission on Friday will receive two-for-one lift tickets to select Vermont mountain resorts, including Bolton Valley, Bromley Mountain, Magic Mountain Ski Area, Mount Snow, Smugglers’ Notch and Stratton Mountain Resort.
The first 500 guests with paid admission on both Saturday and Sunday will receive free lift tickets to select New York mountains, including Catamount Ski Area, Gore Mountain, Hunter Mountain, Oak Mountain Ski Center, West Mountain, Whiteface Mountain, and Windham Mountain Resort. New for 2017 Ultimate Freestyle Show; branded ski show merchandise; and return of Hannaford Family Fun Zone
U.S. Resort Management will bring an all-new attraction to this year’s event: the Ultimate Freestyle Show, a ski and snowboard rail exhibition featuring semi-pro athletes performing acrobatic tricks as they glide down an indoor rail slope. DJ-CYN, one of Colorado’s hottest DJs, will entertain attendees while organizers offer product and demo giveaways.
The Pearl Street Pub in Albany will feature an after-party event on Friday, November 3, with DJ-CYN, as well as lift ticket giveaways and other prizes, courtesy of DeCrescente Distributing Company. The after-party will get underway at 9 p.m.
The next generation of winter sports fans will once again be able to enjoy the Hannaford Family Fun Zone. In partnership with the innovative bottle redemption company CLYNK, the Family Fun Zone will feature numerous activities for children including arts and crafts, stickers and giveaways throughout the event. Additionally, Hannaford Supermarkets will have pharmacists on-site to consult with guests and administer flu shots (separate fee may apply).
On Sunday, November 5, the Hannaford Family Fun Zone will include additional free activities for children, including face painting, a balloon artist and a special visit from Santa Claus. Pictures with Santa can be taken for a suggested $5 donation to benefit Capital Region Toys for Tots. All activities on Sunday will be available from noon to 4 p.m.
Additionally, skiers and snowboarders will for the first time have the opportunity to purchase Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase merchandise. The commemorative embroidered fleece hats, featuring the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase logo, will be available for $12.95 each (plus tax).
Luxury resorts, New England mountains amongst new exhibitors for 56th edition of the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase
The AAA Four Diamond-rated Mirror Lake Inn, located in Lake Placid, will make its Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase debut by providing guests with a peak into the region’s rich Olympic heritage, while also offering exclusive deals and discounts on packages and overnight stays at the luxury Adirondack boutique resort.
Cannon Mountain, one of the top ski resorts in New Hampshire, will for the first time feature discounted ski packages and lift tickets during all three days of the show. Cannon Mountain offers the highest area summit in the Granite State with over 95 trails and glades during the winter season.
Representatives from the finest mountain resorts in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Wyoming will be on hand to highlight off-season upgrades and offer special resort and travel packages, as well as deals on lift tickets. Additionally, guests can enter to win spectacular prize packages from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Mad River Glen.
Pre-season savings on top winter fashion, apparel and equipment
The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase will transform the second floor of the state-of-the-art Albany Capital Center into a winter sports showcase offering skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to survey and shop for high-quality winter sports equipment, gear and fashion from the industry’s leading retailers and manufacturers.
Alpin Haus will offer skiers and snowboarders early season savings on gear and equipment from K2; Atomic; LINE; Blizzard, Tecnica; and Nordica featuring the Navigator 85, a new lightweight, performance designed ski. Guests can also take advantage of great deals on winter apparel, including clothing and accessories from North Face; Under Armour; Patagonia; Karbon; Obermeyer; Roxy; Spyder; Hunter and UGG.
Guests will also be able to shop for gear, equipment and apparel from Potter Brothers Ski & Snowboard Shops, Steiner’s, and other leading retailers.
Additionally, Alpin Haus will host a winter coat collection in partnership with the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless during the show. Winter coats for both adults and children in good condition will be accepted. Individuals who donate a coat will receive $10 off the purchase of a jacket at the Alpin Haus booth at the event. Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase
The nation’s longest running consumer ski showcase, now in its 56th year, will for the first time be held at the all-new Albany Capital Center on Friday, November 3 through Sunday, November 5. Show hours are 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Albany Capital Center is located at 55 Eagle Street in downtown Albany.
Guests will enjoy free parking at the nearby Times Union Center garage located at 100 Beaver Street. The parking garage is connected to the Albany Capital Center via an enclosed walkway. Guests can access the walkway on the fifth floor of the parking garage.
Advance discount tickets to the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase are available online at www.northeastskishow.com. Tickets purchased in advance are $10 per day or $25 for all three days. Tickets are $12 at the door (cash only). Children 10 and under accompanied by an adult are admitted free. Online ticket sales conclude at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 3.
Guests can also save $2 on single-day admission at the door with vouchers available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout the Capital Region. Vouchers are redeemable in-person only at the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase box office.
All guests will receive an exclusive voucher for $3 off a ticket to the Siena men’s basketball home opener on Monday, November 13, against three-time NCAA tournament team Florida Gulf Coast. The voucher may be redeemed in-person only at the Times Union Center Box Office; valid one per person.
All guests will also receive a voucher for a free ticket to either one of two Rensselaer Engineers men’s hockey games against Quinnipiac University on Friday, November 10 or against Brown University on Saturday, December 2. Fans can redeem the voucher for a free ticket at the Houston Field House Box Office; valid one per person.
The Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase will take place the same weekend as the Albany Auto Show, which will be held at the nearby Times Union Center. Guests to the Northeast Ski & Craft Beer Showcase will receive a voucher for $2 off admission to the Albany Auto Show which may be accessed via an enclosed walkway.
