SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will celebrate one of New York’s most majestic mountain regions during Adirondacks Day at Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday, August 14. The day is presented by the Adirondack Regional Tourism Council.
The day will highlight the unique history, culture and tourism attractions of the Adirondack region, which includes Lake Placid, home to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The event will take place at the Coca-Cola Saratoga Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We are excited to welcome one of our fellow tourism destinations to Saratoga Race Course as we highlight the wide variety of outstanding recreational opportunities in New York State that are available to visitors,” said NYRA CEO & President Dave O’Rourke. “We encourage fans to visit the Coca-Cola Saratoga Pavilion to learn more about our neighbors to the north.”
Guests will have the opportunity to experience Adirondack life with a variety of activities, including basket weaving, wood carving, colonial shoemaking and tailoring, and balsam bag assembly.
The event will also include a craft beer tasting with several regional breweries, including Adirondack Brewery; Lake Placid Brewery; and Oval Craft Brewing.
Samples of fresh local farm food will be provided by Adirondack Harvest; Hidden Hollow Maple Farm; Nettle Meadow Farm; Rulfs Orchard and The Wild Center. Additionally, Great Camp Sagamore will offer s’mores samples.
A variety of Adirondack organizations will be represented at the Pavilion, including the Adirondack Coast Visitors Bureau; Adirondack Experience; Adirondack Folk School; Fort Ticonderoga; Olympic Regional Development Authority; Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism; and the Warren County Tourism Department.
The 2019 summer meet at Saratoga Race Course runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. Racing at Saratoga is conducted five days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays. Closing week will run Wednesday, August 28 through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.
