Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy to this Friday’s home contest against Canisius will save on tickets to the next men’s home game
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Fresh off its third-place finish in the ESPN Events Invitational following high-major wins over Florida State and Seton Hall, Siena Basketball returns to MVP Arena Friday night at 7 p.m. to host Canisius in its MAAC opener. The Saints will tip-off conference play by partnering with the United States Marine Corps Reserve to host a holiday toy drive benefiting Capital Region Toys for Tots.
All fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy to Friday night’s men’s basketball game at MVP Arena will receive $5 off select seats to Siena’s next home game on Dec. 19 against St. Bonaventure featuring the annual battle for the Br. Ed Coughlin Franciscan Cup.
Members and volunteers with the Marine Corps Reserve will collect toys on the concourse of MVP Arena outside Sections 104 and 105 to benefit the beloved Toys for Tots holiday campaign. All toys donated and collected will benefit families in need throughout the Capital Region.
“We’re excited to team up with Capital Region Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps Reserve during the start of the holiday season,” said Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D’Argenio. “We encourage all our fans who are planning to attend this Friday night’s game against Canisius to bring a toy to donate to this great cause. As our way of saying thanks, those who donate will save on tickets to our next home game against St. Bonaventure just prior to Christmas.”
“We are so grateful for this partnership with Siena Basketball and Siena Athletics,” said Capital Region Toys for Tots Coordinator Marine Gunnery Sgt. (Ret.) Vinny Roman. “The holidays are coming, and not everyone will be fortunate enough to have gifts to open this year. Our Toys for Tots toy drive is a great way for people in our community to help make the holidays brighter for many families throughout our region.”
Capital Region Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps Reserve collect new, unwrapped toys each year in October, November and December. They distribute those toys as gifts to children in need across 14 upstate New York counties. In 2021, Capital Region Toys for Tots supported 237,000 area children.
