Capital Region’s premier shopping and dining destination supports all-women’s sports and entertainment festival being held at Times Union Center
ALBANY, NY; – Stuyvesant Plaza, the Capital Region’s premier lifestyle shopping and dining destination for 60 years, has been named the official sponsor of the beach volleyball competition at the inaugural Aurora Games, a six-sport, all-women’s international sports and entertainment festival being held August 20-25 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.
The beach volleyball matchups, presented by Stuyvesant Plaza, will take place on Sunday, August 25 at 11 a.m. Tons of sand will be hauled into the downtown arena to build a temporary court and provide fans with an indoor beach party atmosphere.
The matches will feature four of the world’s top ranked teams in a straight knockout format that will close the six-day event.
Representing Team Americas will be April Ross and Alix Klineman of the United States, the world’s number one ranked team in the latest Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) world rankings.
Team Americas will also feature Melissa Humana-Paredes and Sarah Pavan of Canada, currently ranked second in the global standings. The Canadian pair defeated Ross and Klineman last month in the finals of the 2019 World Championship.
Team World will be represented by Barbora Hermannova and Marketa Slukova (Czech Republic) and Nina Betschart and Tanja Huberli (Switzerland).
