The Wesley Community launches “Shopping for Seniors” initiative

The Wesley Community, a 37-acre senior living campus with more than 700 residents in Saratoga Springs, is launching a new charitable program designed to provide clothing, personal care items and hygiene products to residents facing financial challenges.

The new campaign called “Shopping for Seniors” was jumpstarted with an initial donation of $5,000 from Wesley Community advocates Jay and Georgia Horner. Members of the public can offer ongoing support by purchasing items directly from The Wesley Community’s Amazon Wishlist, which features essential items that will enhance residents’ quality of life. A link to the Wishlist can be found on Wesley’s website.

Cash and/or in-kind donations are also welcome.

“The Wesley Community is exceptionally grateful for the generosity of Jay and Georgia Horner, which made it possible to introduce Shopping for Seniors, a program that will benefit dozens of Wesley residents,” said Eileen Nash, Director of Development and Communication for The Wesley Community. “Rising costs have created a hardship for so many people, and our seniors are no exception. Shopping for Seniors can provide temporary assistance and is needed now more than ever. We want to thank the public in advance for donations and in-kind contributions.”

Wesley’s Amazon Wishlist includes items such as hair and bathing products, sweatpants, thermal tops and bottoms, blankets, weighted lap blankets, stuffed animals, craft and scrapbook-making supplies, mini-sized garden tool sets, puzzles, framed and unframed art, magnifying glass screens for reading, folding slant boards for writing, dementia activity books and more.

Those who wish to make a purchase from the Amazon Wish List should be sure to include the following with their order:

  • Enter The Wesley Community’s address as the shipping address: 156 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866
