Funding for staff training and certification comes from anonymous donor
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Wesley Community today announced five therapists from its Outpatient Therapy program have completed training and received certification in both LSVT Big and LSVT Loud methodologies through funding from an anonymous donor. The certification allows the Wesley Community Outpatient Therapy program to provide new services to those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
“We are grateful to our anonymous donor for funding the training needed to achieve these certifications and allowing The Wesley Community to better serve those who need specialized therapy as a result of having Parkinson’s disease,” said J. Brian Nealon, CEO of The Wesley Community.
LSVT certification programs, run by LSVT Global in Tucson, AZ, are designed to train rehabilitation therapists in an evidence-based treatment approach for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. The LSVT Big program helps Parkinson’s patients avoid inactivity, move more easily, improve balance, and increase torso rotation through a series of specialized movements, while the LSVT Loud program focuses on improvements in speech clarity and volume, increased facial expression, and improved vocalization.
Both programs are available to current and prospective \ patients in addition to the wide range of services offered at The Wesley Community’s Outpatient Therapy program, including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Orthopedics, Pediatric Therapy Services and CORE evaluations.
