The Wesley Community, a 37-acre non-profit senior living campus in Saratoga Springs, will welcome players from the Adirondack Thunder hockey team for a special meet-and-greet with residents on Tuesday, March 25.
The one-hour event will get underway at 3 p.m. at the Embury Café and will feature select Adirondack Thunder players and official mascot “Gunnar” who will take part in mobility exercises and basic hockey-related activities with Wesley residents.
“We are delighted to welcome members of the Adirondack Thunder to our campus and to offer a new and engaging experience for our residents,” said J. Brian Nealon, CEO of The Wesley Community. “Collaborating with the Thunder on this fun and lively event is sure to get everyone moving and to foster a strong sense of community.”
“We take pride in being able to visit with fans of all ages and spread joy throughout the community,” said Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead. “Our players look forward to meeting with the residents and staff of The Wesley Community and hope to create some lasting memories and convert new fans along the way.”
The Thunder will conclude the month of March at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls by hosting the annual “Stick it to Cancer Weekend” on March 28 and 29. The team will auction off special jerseys to raise money for the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, while fans can paint the ice after Friday’s game to share inspirational messages or honor loved ones. The first 1,000 fans on Saturday will receive a free t-shirt while watching the team compete on the painted ice. Puck drop for both contests is set for 7 p.m.
