The Wesley Foundation hosts annual Saratoga 9 & Wine golf fundraiser

The Wesley Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Wesley Community in Saratoga Springs, hosted its annual Saratoga 9 & Wine golf fundraiser on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at the Saratoga Lake Golf Club in Saratoga Springs.

Golfers enjoyed a grab-and-go lunch, wine and spirits tastings and light fare along the course, followed by a barbecue after the tournament at the golf course’s Hideaway Restaurant. Saratoga 9 & Wine is a nine-hole scramble format golf outing with fun contests and a wine theme.

Proceeds from this year’s event exceeded $30,000 and will support Wesley Health Care Center’s Life Enrichment Program. This initiative provides an array of services, which include ongoing, meaningful social and therapeutic activities tailored to the capabilities and needs of each Wesley resident so they may continue to pursue their interests and passions.

“We are thrilled to continue to offer this popular summer tradition to benefit The Wesley Foundation and are gratified with its ongoing success,” said The Wesley Community CEO J. Brian Nealon. “Guests enjoyed a spirited afternoon on the golf course and a relaxing after-party, while supporting the Life Enrichment Program’s mission to provide unique, personalized programming that enhances the lives of our community’s seniors and their families.”

This year’s event was co-chaired by Wesley Community Board Member Tara Anne Pleat and Wesley Foundation Board Member Jim Carminucci.

“This was our fifth consecutive Saratoga 9 & Wine fundraiser, and it is exciting to watch it grow with each passing year. This event has become a perennial favorite for golfers and non-golfers alike to benefit the excellent work of The Wesley Community,” said Pleat. “This highly anticipated annual event sold out weeks ahead of time and has proven successful at advancing our fundraising efforts for The Wesley Community. There is no better way to raise money for a great cause than through a round of golf at beautiful Saratoga Lake Golf Club.”

Founded in 1972, The Wesley Community was established as a long-term senior care facility and has steadily grown into a continuum-of-care campus featuring independent and assisted living apartments, compassionate skilled nursing and memory care services.
