Annual holiday train runs on donation from Dunkin’ Donuts for seventh year in a row to deliver $30,000 in toys and winter coats to children at 11 stops across New York
NEW YORK – The Marine Corps Reserves’ Dunkin’ Donuts Toys for Tots Train will take to the rails for its annual two-day run to deliver holiday cheer to children across New York on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6. The train’s run is the result of Dunkin’ Donuts contribution of $30,000 to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
The Marine Corps Reserves’ Dunkin’ Donuts Toys for Tots Train, presented by Amtrak, will begin on Saturday, December 5 with stops in Binghamton, Bainbridge, Oneonta, Cobleskill and Delanson. On Sunday, December 6, the train will make its way north from Albany with stops in Saratoga Springs, Whitehall, Port Henry, Port Kent, and Rouses Point, adjacent to the Canadian border.
Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees will join Marine Corps Reserve volunteers as they traverse the state and deliver toys to children in need – purchased with a $30,000 donation from Dunkin’ Donuts. Thousands of toys will also be delivered at each station to local non-profit organizations for distribution to those who qualify in their communities.
Dunkin’ Donuts’ contribution brings its seven-year grand total to $200,000 in support of the Toys for Tots campaign.
“We’re fortunate to have such a dedicated and committed community partner in Dunkin’ Donuts and are grateful for the support its franchisees have provided to keep our holiday train on track for the seventh year in a row,” said Marine Gunnery Sgt. (Ret) Albert Roman, local coordinator of the Albany Toys for Tots campaign. “Their generosity will bring new toys to thousands of children throughout New York. Dunkin’ Donuts’ support exemplifies the true spirit of the season.”
Dunkin’ Donuts will warm up the volunteers and families at each station with complimentary hot chocolate and baked goods.
“Dunkin’ Donuts is proud to support the efforts of the Marines who spearhead the Toys for Tots campaign,” said Eric Stensland, field marketing manager for Dunkin’ Donuts. “We are privileged to be part of this extraordinary effort that has such a vital impact on our community.”
As many as 100 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants are also serving as drop-off locations for guests who wish to donate new, unwrapped toys. The Marine Corps Reserve will work with more than 200 community agencies to distribute toys this holiday season and will be equipped to serve 200,000 children.
